According to Forbes, how stars buy their homes varies drastically compared to us ordinary folk. One of those ways is, obviously, they spend a lot more. Although the median home in the United States cost about $186,000 in 2016, celebrities generally spent between $3.5 and $20 million on their homes. Plus, celebs don't need to scour Zillow as we do. Most of the homes they purchase never actually hit the Multiple Listing Service since many celebrity transactions are off-market deals to preserve privacy.
However, as we all know from watching "Million Dollar Listing," the real estate reality show agents know how to deal with big-spending buyers, including celebrities. Thanks to their many A-list clients, agents like Josh Flagg, Josh Altman, and Fredrik Eklund never get starstruck. Here are just a few that the agents from the show have dealt with.
Josh Flagg sold Adam Levine a Beverly Hills historic ranch
Josh Flagg has a penchant for historic homes with tons of character, and that's exactly what he represented when he sold a listing to Adam Levine, the face behind pop band Maroon 5. According to the Los Angeles Times, Levine's ranch that he bought in 2012 dates back 80 years and sits on nearly four acres with six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. It also has just the right amount of privacy for a star as sought-after as Levine. The estate sits tucked behind the gates of Wallingford Estates, which has many older properties that exude charm and offer tons of living space (via Beach Cities Real Estate). It's also a very exclusive neighborhood — there are only 14 homes here.
Levine decided it was time for a change from his Hollywood Hills abode, but it seemed like he was ready for a place with a view, which is exactly what the Wallingford Estates offers. Since it's situated on top of Benedict Canyon, Levine's home has crazy canyon views, allowing the star a natural respite after a long day in the studio. Plus, thanks to the four-acre property, there's tons of space to build another estate onsite if he so chooses (via Trulia).
Josh Flagg helped Steve Aoki sell his ultra-modern Hollywood Hills home for $1.5 million
When DJ Steve Aoki decided it was time to move on from his five-bedroom abode in Hollywood Hills in 2014, he too called Josh Flagg to help him get the job done. Per Curbed, Flagg was the listing agent behind 8734 Wonderland Avenue, a nearly 2,500 square foot home that Aoki picked up six years prior. So why would Aoki want to leave behind a dramatic mansion with its own recording studio? At the time, Aoki was getting ready to head to Ibiza for a summer DJing gig, said Entertainment Tonight.
Aoki and Flagg listed the super-modern home for about $1.5 million. Even the house entrance is dramatic, thanks to a winding wrought iron staircase tucked next to white walls. It's adjacent to the sunny living room, which is outfitted with lots of windows as well as a stone fireplace. An eclectic metal chandelier towers over the entire open space, flowing into the dining room marked by an all-glass table surrounded by black chairs. Country star Reba McEntire passed off her colossal Beverly Hills compound in an off-market transaction in 2015. And it was Josh Altman who brought a buyer to the listing. Dirt reported that Altman's unidentified buyer bought McEntire's nearly 10,000 square foot home with six bedrooms for $22.5 million. McEntire made a considerable profit since she bought it for only $9 million a little more than a decade prior. The home includes an entertainment room, a chef's kitchen, and a gathering area with its own bar.
McEntire's former home may have been in busy Beverly Hills, but it still has tons of privacy thanks to its foreboding gates and nearly two acres of land. It's been that way since the property was built in 1993. Onsite, there's also a 2,000 square foot pool house that's perfect for visitors, in case the current owners don't want anyone intruding on their enormous living space. However, McEntire certainly wasn't left homeless. She owned a home at that time near Nashville, Tennessee, that was located on an 80-acre farm. Clearly, McEntire has a love of large houses. The Nashville abode had nearly 12,000 square feet and a whopping 10 bathrooms.

Miley Cyrus has Josh Altman to thank for her $4 million Hidden Hills ranch that feels like the perfect fit for the country-born star. Per Lonny, Altman brought her to the modern farmhouse, which includes a set of horse stables. The home dates back about 70 years and is also far away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi since it's quite literally hidden inside a gated community. Cyrus only owned the farmhouse for four years, but she was in good company in Hidden Hills. Some of her neighbors included Marc Anthony, Jamie Fox, and several members of the Jenner and Kardashian families.

Thanks to James Harris, Kris Humphries snagged a $6.2 Beverly Hills home in 2015. Page Six reported that the place was constructed in a mid-century modern style and had three bedrooms and four bedrooms inside 3,300 square feet. Harris also got a deal on the 60-year-old home for his client — it had initially been listed for nearly $6.5 million.
At the time, Humphries was a new bachelor due to his 2013 divorce, and the home was a perfect bachelor pad thanks to its living room bar, primary suite fireplace, and illuminated pool that overlooks the entire city below. However, it was almost the deal that wasn't. The transaction was highlighted on "Million Dollar Listing," and some tense negotiations took place before Humphries could walk out with a deed in hand. Per the New York Post, Parker and Broderick spent three years trying to offload the historic property they bought only one year prior. However, they paid $19 million for it, making $1 million in profit.

We can only guess if Jennifer Lopez thought Fredrik Eklund's high kicks were up to par while he helped her buy a $22 million penthouse in Madison Square Park. New York Daily News reported that the long-running "Million Dollar Listing" alum snagged Lopez a four-bedroom abode with tons of coveted outdoor space, totaling 3,000 square feet of patio room. The apartment's building also has its fair share of star-worthy amenities for the singer, dancer, and actress. These include a doorman stationed 24/7, a fitness center, storage space, and personal elevators ideal for privacy for the building's celebrities, one of whom is Chelsea Clinton. Actually, this building couldn't get any more private. There are only four units in the whole structure.
Lopez's New York City home is also one of the widest in the city — the building takes up a whole block. Inside, there are also bathrooms nearly entirely outfitted in Italian marble, stunning high-end cabinetry throughout the kitchen, and smartphone technology that allows Lopez to control everything from the lights to the heat from her iPhone.
Fredrik Eklund helped Rebel Wilson save $1 million on her celebrity-ridden New York City apartment
In 2017, we watched Rebel Wilson comically tour New York City apartments with Fredrik Eklund on the TV show. But finally, after a tough search, they scored a two-bedroom apartment at 443 Greenwich Street, a former warehouse, for nearly $3 million. WWD reported that Wilson is in good company here. Many other A-list celebrities have called this address home, including Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, and Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. They must love this building's marble details, stainless steel appliances, reclaimed wood pieces, and acid-splashed glass.

50 Cent wasn't happy with Fredrik Eklund's work on his 52-room Connecticut mansion
Unfortunately, Eklund can't make all miracles happen. Per Us Magazine, we all remember when Eklund toured 50 Cent's Connecticut mansion with 52 rooms, including a nightclub with stripper poles, an indoor pool, a private fitness center, a personal theater, and lots of entertaining spaces. The mansion, once owned by Mike Tyson, gets even better outside. It has 17 acres of property with places for playing basketball, a resort-style pool with a secret grotto, and homes for visitors. But still, not many people were in the market for a home with its own club (this was 2018, long before COVID-19 days, remember.) Eklund found a buyer, but they only offered $4.2 million, which 50 Cent was unhappy about.
50 Cent rejected the offer, but he probably regretted that decision just a year later. With a new agent, another buyer offered $2.9 million in mid-2019, which 50 Cent finally accepted, per The Wall Street Journal. That was at a whopping 84% loss of what 50 Cent originally listed the house for 12 years prior, when he put it on the market for $18.5 million. However, 50 Cent wasn't hurting too much. He donated every cent of that $2.9 million to the G-Unity Foundation, the rapper's charity that seeks to help those living in struggling neighborhoods.
Fredrik Eklund sold Bethenny Frankel's New York City apartment for $7 million in just one day
We've seen Fredrik Eklund and Bethenny Frankel together lots of times on "Million Dollar Listing," but in 2017, Eklund sold the "Real Housewives of New York" star's Tribeca home for nearly $7 million in just a single day. He was so proud of his feat that he shared it on Instagram. People said it was likely a huge relief to Frankel, who was trying to offload the home after she split with ex-husband Jason Hoppy a year prior. Although she was likely glad to leave the 3,600 square foot apartment at 195 Hudson behind, we're sure having a good time clicking through the listing.

Adam Levine's historic abode wasn't the only celebrity house with a past to catch the attention of Josh Flagg. He was also the listing agent behind a Hancock Park, Los Angeles mansion that Shonda Rhimes picked up in 2017. According to Variety, she bought the property, which neighbors the home of stars like Antonio Banderas, for $4.5 million. Inside, Rhimes enjoys charming touches like marble floors, dark wood details, lots of fireplaces, and even a library adorned with exposed wood beams.
But there are lots of modern elements to Rhimes' third Hancock Park home, too. The rectangular-shaped pool is completely heated and surrounded by a stone patio next to an onsite abode for visitors. Plus, in the kitchen, a mix of the old and new reigns supreme, thanks to the state-of-the-art appliances tucked next to wood cabinetry and beige colors to match the tone of the rest of the home. If the Spanish-style residence looks familiar to "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" fans out there, that's because it is. Humphries proposed to Kardashian in the primary bedroom of the abode with a trail of rose petals.
But besides the storied TV history, the 3,800 square foot mansion is simply a stunning and ultra-private place to live. It's hidden behind monitored gates as well as lots of foliage. When Milla Jovovich, star of movies like "Resident Evil" and "The Fourth Kind," decided to bid goodbye to her Beverly Hills Post Office home in early 2022, she called Josh Altman to get the job done. According to The Wall Street Journal, Jovovich wanted to sell the Spanish-style home she and her husband had owned since 2007, so they could move on to renovating a new place in Hollywood Hills. Altman put the residence, which was brand new when Jovovich bought it, on the market for $13.995 million.
With 11,000 square feet of living space on half of an acre, the home has lots of Tuscan charm, which attracted Jovovich to it in the first place.
