A Cleaning Expert's Tips To Banish Mold From Your Shower
By SANDY BAKER
In an exclusive interview with House Digest, Kathy Cohoon, operations manager at Two Maids, explained how to remove dangerous mold in your shower grout without damaging your tiles.
Her advice is to use mild cleaning solutions combined with gentle scrubbing, while emphasizing the importance of wearing gloves and a mask to avoid touching or inhaling the mold.
Cohoon shared an effective cleaning method using a paste made of baking soda and water. Spread the paste over the moldy grout, and gently scrub with a soft brush or old toothbrush.
"For stubborn mold, you can also use a mixture of equal parts vinegar and water," said Cohoon. "Spray [it] onto the moldy grout, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrub gently."
According to Cohoon, "Vinegar is acidic and can help dissolve the mold, but it's important to rinse the area thoroughly afterward to prevent any damage to the grout."
