A Design Expert On What Bathroom Trends You Can Leave Behind
By MICHELLE ROBERTS-GARCIA
According to Artem Kropovinsky, founder and principal designer of Arsight, brass fixtures, heavy wallpaper, and built-in bathtubs are out-of-style and make your bathroom feel drab.
Although small and unassuming, brass faucets and hardware can severely date your bathroom. Kropovinsky suggests replacing them with brushed nickel or matte black fixtures.
Heavy wallpaper, notes Kropovinsky, is too overpowering for small spaces and can crowd the room. Instead, he recommends light, neutral paints to make the space airy and inviting.
Kropovinsky argues for walk-in showers or freestanding tubs in place of built-in bathtubs, which take up space, are rarely used, harm your resale value, and may harbor bacteria.
