A Massachusetts 'Casting Call' Earned Cheap Old Houses A New Season
By NANCY CHANDLER
HGTV’s popular show “Cheap Old Houses” is holding a casting call in the Berkshires in Western Massachusetts, an area rich in history and natural beauty.
The program stars Ethan and Elizabeth Finkelstein, who have channeled their passion for old homes into a popular Instagram account that has now inspired a successful show.
The couple travels around the country to find homes that highlight the craftsmanship of a bygone era. Each house must be at least 100 years old and bought for less than $150,000.
The producers of “Cheap Old Houses” have stated that they are looking for homes that have been recently purchased, preferably ones where the owners haven’t moved in yet.
If an application is approved, the restoration will be done by interior designers and historic preservationists, but the homeowners will need to contribute to the cost.
If you own a historic home in the Berkshires that you would like to be considered, you are encouraged to complete an application on the Cheap Old Houses website.
