No matter the size, kitchens always seem to be running out of space. In response, HGTV’s Hilary Farr designed the perfect hack to extend your storage into an attached dining room.
On an episode of “Love It or List It,” Farr tore down some walls to create an open floor plan. This allowed her to extend the kitchen cabinets into the now connected dining room.
The dining room featured a banquette, wherein the bench is attached to the wall and provides the perfect anchor for the added upper cabinets without eating up any floor space.
Absent a banquette, Farr suggested installing a wall of floor-to-ceiling cabinets that doubles as an accent wall. The result will be, in her words, “sophisticated but still cozy.”
