Add Some Blue To Your Garden By Planting This Stunning Brunnera Plant
By MIMI MFUNDISI
Brunnera macrophylla, or Jack Frost, is a ground cover that boasts heart-shaped leaves and lovely blue flowers. It thrives under shade in fertile, moist, and well-draining soil.
To grow the plant, dig up an established Brunnera and use a sharp knife to cut healthy roots and leaves, dividing them into smaller sections based on how many you want to plant.
Using a quality potting mix, plant the roots directly into the soil or in a container with drainage holes and newspaper on the bottom to keep the potting mix from draining.
Mulch and water it regularly in its earlier life to maintain cool and moist soil. Remove any unsightly or damaged foliage; prune and deadhead in order to prevent weeds.
