Adding Aluminum Foil To Your Toilet May Actually Be A Mistake
By JENNY TINDER
It is widely claimed that adding aluminum foil to a toilet tank helps to achieve a clean and shiny toilet, but critics challenge these claims due to a lack of scientific evidence.
Since aluminum is corrosive, exposure to certain chemicals in toilet cleaners may lead it to break down and disperse tiny particles into the water, harming the toilet's mechanisms.
When the foil comes in contact with some of the cleaners, it may also undergo an exothermic reaction, which releases heat and, in some instances, could cause an explosion.
Additionally, per the warranty of most toilets, placing a foreign object into the tank will void the warranty and potentially cause you a financial loss.
