All You Need Is Paper Towel To Prevent Your Cast Iron From Rusting
By A.E. FEENSTRA
There is a simple yet effective technique involving paper towels to keep your cast iron pan rust-free. Start by washing the pan by hand with warm water, using soap if necessary.
After cleaning, dry the pan completely using a paper towel. For an extra layer of protection, apply a light layer of cooking oil over the pan's surface with another paper towel.
Storing the pan with a paper towel inside can help absorb excess moisture and prevent rust formation. This hack is handy in humid climates, where the risk is higher.
You can also use a lint-free cloth, a sustainable alternative to paper towels. It can do the job just as well, though it might need occasional washing to remove any oil residue.
