Attract Your Favorite Pollinators With A Flowering Plant They Love
By JAHAIRA ARTHUR
If you’re looking to welcome more pollinators to your garden, help your local ecosystem, and add a pop of color to your yard, then the purple firespike is a perfect addition.
Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees love the evergreen shrub's tubular blossoms filled with nectar. Its broad leaves also provide shelter and collect water for them to sip.
Purple firespikes grow fast and are low maintenance; however, this vibrant crop does need full to partial sun, along with regular watering for optimal blooms.
The flowering plant attracts pollinators from spring to winter, as the flowers bloom year-round, and it’s best to grow non-hybrid varieties and, if possible, native to your area.
Since this shrub can reach up to 10 feet tall, it’s ideal for hedges or plant privacy screens. You can plant a border to edge your lawn or conceal areas of
your backyard.
