Baking Soda Is All You Need To Give Your Old Dish Rags New Life
By MADISEN SWENSON
Over time, dish rags can become worn and less than fresh. Thankfully, there is a simple and natural solution to breathe new life into them using a pantry staple:
baking soda.
The process begins with a spot treatment. Mix baking soda and water to create a thick paste, then apply it directly to stained or discolored areas, and let it sit for 10 minutes.
Next, place a few dishcloths into a pot of boiling water, stir in ⅛ to ½ cup of baking soda, and let them simmer for about 20 minutes. Then, wash the rags in a regular wash cycle.
After washing, do a quick sniff test before drying them. If you detect any foul odors, consider giving the rags a second wash — this time using vinegar instead of baking soda.
