One of the best ways to encourage hummingbirds to your yard is by planting flowers. The bidens flower is a favored food source for them, and it looks great in a hanging basket.
Hummingbirds are attracted to bidens’ sweet nectar and bright yellow blooms. In addition to hummers, the flowers also help attract other pollinators like bees and butterflies.
Ensure your hanging basket is well-draining, receives six hours of full sun, and contains a nutrient-rich potting soil. Bidens do not require any deadheading for continuous blooms.
Bidens pair well with other hanging plants like salvia, verbena, or lobelia. Make sure your hanger isn’t close to your window to prevent the birds from colliding with the glass.
