Can Coffee Grounds Keep Squirrels Out Of Your Garden Pots?
By ETHAN HARRISON SMITH
Coffee grounds serve as an effective way to deter squirrels from garden pots, thanks to their potent fragrance that these critters find unpleasant and try to stay away from.
Simply sprinkling fresh or used grounds onto the soil not only repels squirrels but also acts as a fertilizer by enriching the soil with nutrients like potassium and nitrogen.
It's important to take into account that coffee grounds can make the soil acidic. This might be harmful for plants that thrive in alkaline conditions, such as lilacs and lavender.
However, this practice can benefit acid-loving plants, like azaleas and rhododendrons, as well as vegetables that require a lot of nitrogen, such as tomatoes and peppers.
