Clean Mold & Mildew From Vinyl Siding With A Simple Vinegar Trick
By BRI AHEARN
When mildew, a type of mold, grows on your home’s vinyl siding and creates an eyesore, dispatch it easily with the potent antifungal pH of vinegar, which kills 80% of mold species.
First, dislodge any dirt with a long soft-bristled brush, starting at the top and working down. Next, mix 7 parts water to 3 parts vinegar, which is suitable for light mold stains.
If you use a pressure washer, turn it to a low setting and add the vinegar solution. Hold the nozzle at a 45 degree angle and at least 12 inches away, and spray the entire surface.
If you don't have a pressure washer, use a spray bottle to coat wherever you can reach. Let the vinegar treatment sit for a few minutes before lightly scrubbing any stubborn marks.
Finally, wipe the siding carefully with a soft microfiber cloth, then rinse it thoroughly from top to bottom with cool water (avoid using hot water as it can warp the siding).
