Clean Your Dirty Carpets With This Handy Ingredient
By WILL FORD
Regular carpet cleaning helps maintain a healthy indoor environment by removing trapped dirt, allergens, and pollutants, which can affect air quality and cause respiratory issues.
Castile soap, made from plant-based oils, offers a gentle yet effective solution for DIY carpet cleaning, suitable for various materials and minimizing the use of harsh chemicals.
Simply mix ¼ cup of castile soap with one quart of warm water and stir well. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, wringing out any excess liquid before gently scrubbing the carpet.
Let the mixture sit on the carpet for a few minutes. Then, using a clean, damp cloth, rinse the carpet by blotting it with plain water — repeat until all soap residue is removed.
Finally, allow the carpet to air dry completely before placing any furniture back on it. Once dry, vacuum the carpet again to fluff up the fibers and remove any remaining dirt.
Exercise caution to prevent over-saturating the carpet, as it can promote mold growth. Additionally, before using the solution, perform a spot test to avoid potential damage.
