Weed Around To Repel Mosquitoes
By CLAIRE DANGALAN
A 2018 study published in the National Library of Medicine identified pineapple weed — also known as false or wild chamomile — as an effective way to keep pesky mosquitoes at bay.
To harness the mosquito-repelling benefits of this often-overlooked weed, start by harvesting fresh plants, ensuring they are free from pesticides and other contaminants.
Crush the leaves and flowers of the pineapple weed to release its aromatic oils, then generously apply the oils to your skin before heading outdoors, reapplying as necessary.
Alternatively, placing fresh pineapple weed leaves around outdoor seating areas can serve as a natural deterrent against mosquitoes and other pests, such as fleas and ticks.
It is important to note, though, that some individuals may have allergic reactions to pineapple weed. Therefore, conducting a skin patch test before extensive use is recommended.
