Create A More Bee-Friendly Lawn Using This Type Of Grass Seed
By NAOMI MEZA
Starting a bee-friendly lawn is a proven way to bring more of the vital insects to your yard, and it’s easy to begin your own with low-maintenance fine fescue grass seed mix.
The seed mix is actually a combination of five different fescue species, each of which increases any pollinator-friendly flowers’ chances of establishing themselves in your lawn.
Since fine fescues are long rooted and slow growing, they need very little watering and mowing. As such, they are the perfect environmentally friendly blend for your bee lawn.
Pick up the seed blend at your local garden center, or make your own with fine fescue, white clover, self-heal, and creeping thyme. Seed in the late fall for sprouts in the spring.
