Crisco Is The Secret Weapon That Makes Removing Stickers A Breeze
By MICHELE WANKE
Forget about using your nails, a knife, or a razor to remove pesky stickers. Instead, it's time to raid your pantry for a can of Crisco.
Like many generic shortenings, Crisco contains soybean and palm oil, which help eat away at the glue-like residue on items many frugal homeowners habitually recycle.
Crisco is the perfect item to remove stickers with, as it’s environmentally friendly and affordable. It also has a shelf life of two years, and won't compromise a vessel's surface.
First, spread an even layer of Crisco on the area and let it sit for 10 minutes. Then, use a sponge to gently scrub at the sticky spot, and the residue should easily lift off.
Finally, clean the item with soap and let it dry completely before using it. For particularly tough stickers, apply a thick layer of Crisco and let it sit for 12 to 24 hours.
