Dave and Jenny Marrs, hosts of HGTV’s "Fixer to Fabulous," emphasize the importance of hiring a home inspector when purchasing a new home, particularly one intended for renovation.
Despite Dave's 20 years of experience in the field, the couple insists on this practice for every purchase. "Jenny and I always hire an inspector, every time," Dave states.
Home inspectors usually charge between $280 and $400; however, they meticulously check critical aspects of a property, including plumbing, roofing, HVAC systems, chimney, and more.
When these problems go undetected, they can cause the renovation costs to soar, leading Dave to affirm, "Spending a little extra money on an inspector is absolutely worth it."
