Declutter Your Home In 5 Simple Steps With The Pomodoro Technique
By LISA DAVIS
The Pomodoro Technique is a five-step method that breaks the day into uninterrupted 25-minute periods called "Pomodoros" (Italian for tomato), separated by short breaks.
The basic premise is to turn overwhelming tasks like decluttering your home into smaller manageable ones with breaks to help you relax and sustain your focus to forge ahead.
Start by writing down your goals and estimating the number of 25-minute Pomodoros needed for each task. Break larger projects into smaller chunks and set a timer for 25 minutes.
After the timer goes off, take a five-minute break to jot down accomplishments or relax. Repeat the process; after every four Pomodoros, take a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes.
The method can be modified to suit your needs by experimenting with different time durations. If you’re interrupted, write down the distraction so you can avoid it in the future.
