DIY Hanging Wall Storage With This Beginner-Friendly Wood Project
By V BAWA
Rather than clutter up your entryway with hats, scarves, or umbrellas, create an easy DIY wall rack to hang them up. You can also use it in your bedroom, mudroom, or garage.
You'll need scrap wood planks, stain or paint, command strips, hooks, screws, and a drill. You can get double- or triple-prong hooks from Amazon or Build to match your rack base.
First, stain or paint the wood, let it dry, then screw on the hooks. Finally, attach as many command strips as you need on the back of the wood to hang your new rack on the wall.
A variation demonstrated by TikToker @mikeymannii2 is to carve hooks into two wood planks, sand and paint them, then screw them onto a wood frame to make a freestanding hat rack.
You can customize your rack by painting the base to match your room decor or leaving the wood unfinished for a rustic look. There’s also a wide range of hooks you can choose from.
