Does Wood Vinegar Really Repel Pesky Mosquitoes?
By V BAWA
According to a study published in the Entomological Research journal, wood vinegar — a natural substance derived from tree wood — has shown promise as a mosquito repellent.
The study tested various concentrations of wood vinegar mixed with water and found that a solution with 80% vinegar and 20% water deterred 100% of mosquitoes in controlled tests.
Despite these positive outcomes, the absence of detailed guidelines for using wood vinegar as a mosquito repellent at home makes it challenging to recommend its regular use.
As an alternative, you can mix equal parts apple cider vinegar and water, adding a few drops of lemon or citronella essential oils, to create an effective natural bug spray.
