Don’t Plant These Common Fruits Near Basil In The Garden
By Annette Hird
If you grow tomatoes or simply love to make your own pesto, basil is a wonderful herb to have in your garden, but it needs to be kept away from certain fruits.
Basil is one of those sun-loving herbs that love warm weather but also needs to be kept well-watered and fed. It needs nutrient-rich soil that contains lots of organic matter.
It is best not to grow melons near your basil due to the fruit’s sprawling growth. Melon vines can choke low growing plants and including your herbs.
Basil won't stand a chance when it gets overtaken by the massive vines and shaded out by the large leaves that are common in most melon plants.
