Don't Skip This Essential Step When Installing Kitchen Countertops
By MARCO ROSSI
Before the installers come to slide that new slab of material onto your counters, you should always double-check your measurements and future maintenance requirements.
When remodeling your kitchen, either your fabricator or your trusted contractor will send someone to measure your counter space. However, sometimes numbers can get mixed up.
Matthew DiBara, co-founder of The Contractor Consultants, suggests creating a cardboard stencil to ensure your layout matches the fabricator’s math and everything aligns properly.
He also recommends checking that the walls are level and there is enough room to fit all required equipment and appliances. Not doing so can result in costly installation issues.
Once the installers arrive, ask them about your counter’s sealant requirements and general maintenance. This will help you plan for any future alterations or repairs you’ll need.
