Don't Toss These Handy Kitchen Items. Try These Clever Ideas Instead
By MASIE O'TOOLE
Glass Jars
Reuse jars with intact lids to store dry pantry goods. If the lids don’t seal well, use the jars as drinking glasses, plant propagation vessels, or desk organizers.
Food Containers
If your empty food containers have lids, use them to meal prep or store leftovers. Use those without lids as drawer organizers, especially if they have compartments.
Kitchen Towels
When your kitchen towels look too dingy for drying dishes, use them as washable rags for wiping down surfaces, drying windows, and cleaning up messes or spills.
Food Tins
Repurpose higher-quality grocery packaging like tea tins, cookie tins, and even tin cans for storage or organization, or as creative vessels for homemade soy candles.
Egg Cartons
Reuse egg cartons as zero-cost seed starting trays. Fill each section with soil, plant your seeds, add some water, and place them in a spot that gets plenty of sunlight.
