Don't Use A Paint Brush
To Refinish Cabinets. Try This Instead
By SHARON KONG PERRING
When updating your kitchen cabinets with a fresh coat of paint, you need the right tools for a seamless execution. Surprisingly, a paint brush is not the right tool for this job.
Painting your cabinets with a brush makes it nearly impossible to obtain a smooth finish on the cabinet surfaces, and visible brush strokes take extra time and paint to even out.
Brushes can also shed their bristles or deposit chunks of old paint left on them from previous projects, especially if you use cheaper brushes that aren’t intended to be reused.
As it’s hard to maintain precision with a paint brush, it can leave behind excess paint in the grooves on cabinet doors or edges, and trying to rectify it deposits even more paint.
Rollers work faster than brushes and give a smoother finish. Mohair rollers are ideal for cabinet painting since they’re absorbent, adaptable to different paint, and easy
to clean.
Paint sprayers are the fastest method and give the best finish, but you'll have to paint the cabinet doors outside or drape everything around them. You'll also need to wear a mask.
