Dress Up Your Front Porch With This Upcycled Bird Cage Hack
By PAMELA SIEGEL
You can give an old bird cage an instant porch appeal by repurposing it into a decorative, hanging planter, as shown by the Instagram account @redeux_style.
The Instagrammer placed an easy-to-grow pothos plant inside the bird cage and gently pulled a few leaves through its openings before hanging it on her front porch.
The upcycled bird cage has a brown hue that makes it look more rustic, but any color will work. Spray paint it to match your porch or other garden furnishings.
Since pothos won't work in winter, you can place holly or other evergreen sprigs instead. Alternatively, you can replace the plant seasonally.
Instead of hanging your birdcage, set it on a table with battery-operated candles inside to add a lovely nighttime ambiance to your patio decor.
If the cage sits on an open patio or a garden table, spray it with a clear waterproofing sealer to keep rust at bay and use weatherproof decorative elements inside it.
