Elevate Backyard Privacy With A Unique Planter Idea
By Marco Rossi
When adding privacy to the outdoor space, fences can be expensive, and privacy hedges can take forever to grow. An easier solution is to plant fast-growing trees in planters.
Whether you DIY some planters or use store-bought ones, you automatically add a foot or two of height to the tree, helping you create more privacy with less wait.
The easiest way is to create the structure out of cinder blocks, as blogger Delia Creates did. For this, first remove the grass where the planter will go.
Next, add a foundation of loose gravel on top and arrange the cinder blocks in the desired shape and size, ensuring they stand at least 1 to 2 feet in height.
Research how much room a specific tree needs at its most mature height, and create a space to accommodate that. Apply the blocks, ensuring they're level on the gravel foundation.
If it's not level, add or remove gravel from the spot to make it straight. Next, add cap blocks on top, and then seal the structure using QuikWall surface bonding cement.
If you want the planter to be a specific color, like black or cream, add cement dye into the mix. Add dirt, plant your tree, and watch it grow tall, giving your space some privacy.
