Entice Hummingbirds To Your Yard With An Egg Carton Filled With Fruit
By CHRYSS MAE SEGOVIA
To attract hummingbirds to your yard, consider creating a simple, eco-friendly feeder using an old egg carton filled with fruits like berries, apples, pears, and oranges.
Start by cutting off the lid of the carton, leaving only the bottom portion with the egg cups. Paint this remaining section red, as the
color naturally
attracts hummingbirds.
Next, poke holes in the corners, thread string or twine through them, tie the ends together, and hang the feeder in a safe spot in your yard, preferably near flowering plants.
Cut the berries into halves or quarters, and slice the other fruits into small pieces. Mix them together and fill each cup, ensuring the juicy parts are exposed for easy sipping.
This feeder provides more than just a sweet treat for hummingbirds; it also lures insects like ants and fruit flies, which enhance their diet with additional protein
and nutrients.
