Epsom Salt
Is The Key
To Keeping Raccoons
Out Of Your Garbage Bins
By DANIELLE RAMOS-SULLIVAN
Cleaning your garbage bins with soap and water once a week will remove food odors and reduce their appeal to raccoons. After that, some Epsom salt can help keep them away.
Sprinkle 4 to 5 teaspoons of Epsom salt along the top of your trash cans, and around their perimeter.
For best results, reapply
the salt after it rains.
Not only is this a natural deterrent that’s safe for both pets and kids, but because raccoons can’t stand the taste of the salt, it makes them seek out other food sources.
