Fixer To Fabulous Says This Exterior Brick Mistake Is Dating Your Home
By KIRSTIE BINGHAM
While you often don’t want to be too matchy-matchy with your paint and décor, Jenny Marrs of "Fixer to Fabulous" recommends painting the exterior of your home all the same color.
This is especially true when you have a lot of different textures on the exterior. Painting all the components a cohesive color can make it look much more clean and modern.
Marrs recalls a lake house they updated in season five. "We painted it all one dark color to even it out and make it more modern. The garage door was painted as well," she said.
While Marrs recommends painting a home's exterior all one color, she suggests keeping some accent colors, slight tone variations, or featured elements to add interest and warmth.
A contrasting door, cool light fixtures, planter boxes, or shutters can add visual interest while keeping the monotone color scheme's overall unity and simplicity.
