For A Fresher-Smelling Home, Try This Unexpected Lightbulb Trick
By BROOKE YOUNGER
For a better smelling home, add a few drops of essential oil to a paper towel or cotton ball, and gently rub it onto the surface of a lightbulb while it is turned off and cool.
Allow it to dry thoroughly before turning the lamp on. As the bulb warms up, it will reactivate the essential oil, releasing a soft, pleasant fragrance that fills the room.
This method is best used with LED lights or bulbs that are 40 watts or lower, as higher wattage bulbs can exceed the average flash point of essential oils, posing a fire risk.
To customize the ambiance of different rooms, consider using zingy citrus for bathrooms, warm cinnamon or vanilla for kitchens and living rooms, and relaxing lavender for bedrooms.
