Garden Lovers Should Save Old Toothbrushes For These Brilliant Ideas
By MADISEN SWENSON
Dust Plants
Use a small, soft toothbrush dipped in water to gently remove any dust or sticky debris that may be impeding photosynthesis from your fragile plant leaves and petals.
Make Garden Labels
Remove the bristles, write a label in permanent marker on the handle, and then seal it with a weatherproof coating. Use bamboo brushes for a biodegradable option.
Revive Old Tools
Spray dirty, gunk-filled tools with a hose to soften any loose debris, then use a toothbrush and warm soapy water to scrub the tiny crevices and screws thoroughly.
Clean Your Feeder
Bird feeders need to be cleaned to prevent the buildup of bacteria and diseases. Scrub them using a toothbrush and hot, soapy water, and toss the brush when done.
Remove Moss/Lichen
While not harmful to your plants, moss and lichen can be an eyesore. To remove them, spray with baking soda and water, let dry, then scrub away with a toothbrush.
