Get Floors Smelling Fresher Than Ever With This Natural Ingredient
By MICHELLE ROBERTS-GARCIA
Essential oils serve as natural alternatives to commercial cleaners for floor cleaning. Eucalyptus, when added to water, can help keep floors grime-free and smelling good.
Additionally, eucalyptus has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. According to a study by the National Library of Medicine, inhaling it can help with asthma and colds.
Using it as a floor cleaner can remove stains and clear away both bacteria and some viruses. For the best results, add at least 20 drops of eucalyptus oil to a bucket of hot water.
Allow the mix to sit for a few seconds. Then, you can either dip your mop into the mixture or pour the solution on the flooring in small amounts and wipe it across.
While it’s safe to use on vinyl, wood, and tile, take precautions and dilute the solution further with water or vinegar before using it on hardwood floors to protect the varnish.
Due to its high toxicity to pets, especially dogs, it’s advisable to either refrain from using eucalyptus or ensure thorough drying of floors before allowing pets to walk on them.
