Get Rid Of Tough Stains By Mixing These Two Household Staples
By TRINITY ARCHIE
Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda create a powerful cleaning solution for carpets, bathrooms, grout, and laundry. Use 3% hydrogen peroxide to tackle stubborn stains effectively.
To clean bathroom surfaces, mix ½ cup of baking soda, ¼ cup of hydrogen peroxide, and 1 teaspoon of castile soap. Use a toothbrush to scrub grout or a gentle brush for tiles.
For stubborn carpet stains, make a thick paste of the two ingredients. Scrub it into the carpet, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, and wipe away the stains with a damp towel.
According to Dr. Sarah Pickering Beers, hydrogen peroxide gets its power from “the extra oxygen molecule [that] oxidizes [...] This oxidation kills germs and bleaches color.”
Baking soda dissolves organic stains like oils and food, and its gritty texture exfoliates grime. Together, they form an effective DIY cleaning solution for various surfaces.
