Give A Basic Mason Jar A Rustic Look With This Tree Branch DIY
By LINDSAY DONALDSON
While you may have several craft ideas saved up, there's one simple DIY project that doesn't require much and takes little time or skill to create: a twig-covered Mason jar vase.
There are two methods of crafting the vase, both of which will require a wide-mouth jar, straight twigs, wire cutters or gardening shears, craft glue, and ribbon or twine.
Add several thick bands of glue around the jar, and let it to set for about 10 minutes. Turn the jar on its side on a piece of paper to get a quick reference for your twigs’ size.
Cut a generous collection of sticks and adhere them vertically to the jar, with the jar standing. Wrap the jar with ribbon or twine, tie it, and let it dry.
Garden Answers' YouTube channel offers another method that involves connecting the twigs to each other with twists of twine and gluing them onto a piece of burlap.
Measure around the jar and cut a piece of burlap that matches its height and circumference, then cut twigs to match the jar's height while ensuring they still touch the table.
Wrap the twine once around one twig between 1 and 2 inches from one of the cut ends. Connect to another twig wrapped the same way and repeat until you have enough connected.
Glue the twigs to the burlap, then to the circumference of your jar. You may want to tie an extra bit of temporary twine around the jar to hold the materials in place as they dry.
