Give A Basic Room An Instant Upgrade With This Classic Design Idea
By ALEXANDRIA TAYLOR
You may not pay attention to the ceiling, but giving it some love creates an unexpected detail that can make a room standout. Try adding beadboard to it for character and texture.
Popular from the 1880s to 1930s, beadboard is paneling with thin vertical boards and small grooves in between. Now, it’s used to infuse traditional charm into contemporary spaces.
In addition to beadboard, you’ll need a jigsaw, brad nailer, and ladder to create this DIY design. First, measure your ceiling and cut the beadboard into sections with the jigsaw.
Starting in a corner, line up the beadboard and fasten it to the ceiling with the brad nailer. Seal the seams with caulk in the end, and finish with a new, charming ceiling detail.
