Grow Healthy Sweet William Flowers With These Gardening Tips

Sweet Williams feature colorful flowers and a spicy scent. To get the most of their blooms, make sure to plant them in the right soil with the correct amounts of water and sun.
Ideally, sweet Williams should be planted in organically rich, slightly alkaline soil during spring. Keep the earth consistently moist — but not soaked — by watering once per week.
Check that your chosen spot receives at least six hours of direct sun with periods of shade during the hottest times of day. Space the flowers 6 to 12 inches apart when growing.
Be careful not to overwater the soil, which can cause the plant’s stem and roots to rot. You should also deadhead any spent flowers at the end of summer to encourage new growth.
