Thieves often target garages because they’re easy to access, but you can make it harder for them to get in there and steal your car or other valuable items with a simple zip tie.
According to a 2018 FBI report, burglaries occur every 25.7 seconds in the United States. The zip tie hack shared by TikToker @jmg8tor is an easy way to protect your possessions.
As @jmg8tor explained, thieves push a wire clothes hanger through the top of your garage door and use it to pull down the emergency release, which opens your garage door.
Simply attach a zip tie through both holes in the metal armature holding the emergency release cord to prevent thieves from pulling down the cord and getting into your garage.
