Here's How To Get Rid Of Toilet Rust Stains
By TRICIA GOSS
Rust stains in toilets can be a challenge to get rid of. However, armed with the right tools, techniques, and cleaning solutions, you can confidently tackle those stains.
First, turn off the water supply to the toilet, and flush it to empty the bowl. Then, choose a combination of an acid and an abradant, like a paste of lemon juice and baking soda.
Let the acidic lemon juice and alkaline baking soda react with the rust for about 15 minutes. Scrub the stains with a toilet brush and flush the toilet to rinse the residue.
A paste of vinegar and coarse salt will work too. You can also wet a pumice, which is a lightweight volcanic rock with a porous texture, and gently rub it against the rust stains.
Alternatively, spray some WD-40 on the stains, wait a few minutes, and wipe it away. Rust removers designed for toilets can also do the job well.
