Here’s How To Remove The Cloudy Film From Your Granite Countertops
By SANDY BAKER
If you’re dealing with a cloudy granite countertop that’s lacking its luster and gloss, there are a few things you can do to restore its shine. Start by cleaning the surface.
Use quality dish soap, a clean sponge, and warm water to wash the surface down. If the film has been there for some time, consider using a granite cleaning agent.
Then, buff the countertops with a clean, dry, and soft cloth. This will remove any film caught in the fissures while also removing residue from the cleaning agent you’re using.
Lastly, seal the countertop before polishing it. Most granite countertops benefit from resealing every five to seven years, depending on the type of initial sealant placed on it.
Check your countertop’s warranty to know the type of treatment it’s already had and make sure you use a high-quality, granite-specific product for sealing and polishing.
