HGTV's Home Town Finale Honored An American Transplant's Ranch Home
By DARBY WAGLER
To end Season 7 of HGTV’s “Home Town” with a bang, Erin and Ben Napier turn an old ranch into a colorful cottage for new US citizen Jack and his partner, Iris.
Because Iris loves bold colors and loud patterns,
the Napiers go all out in designing a maximalist space, which makes the budget-friendly property feel extra cozy and comfortable.
The bold kitchen features red cabinets, white countertops, and a highly unexpected dog-patterned backsplash tile. Erin adds a simple floor to ground these quirky features.
For Iris’ craft studio, Erin paints the bookshelves mustard yellow and adds butterfly wallpaper to the back paneling, pairing it with patterned yellow, blue and white floor tiles.
In the bathroom, she adds tropical leaf-patterned tiles in the center of the back wall of the shower. Erin wanted to cover the whole shower, but some tiles broke while shipping.
The exterior of the home features wooden flower boxes under the windows, cedar shakes in the gable, light green shutters, and a baby blue front door.
Some fans voiced their negative opinions about the vibrant and uncommon home’s style, but others thought the design was perfect for the homeowners’ unique preferences.
