Hide Unattractive Laundry Room Pipes With TikTok's Genius IKEA Hack
By D.G. SCIORTINO
TikToker @mypracticehome showed a creative way of hiding messy pipes, wires, and vents in your laundry room as well as adding extra storage by customizing IKEA's units.
First, get the IKEA IVAR unit at $152.50, three side units at $30 each, three shelf pieces at $7.50 each, and two packages — with two doors in each — of IVAR doors at $75 each.
You can also buy an 87-inch $36 ASKERSUND deco strip and cut it into pieces to create the panel below the cabinet.
As the TikToker did, set up the shelf unit against the wall in front of your dryer, leaving out all shelves except for
the top shelf, which gives
four extra shelves.
Hang two doors on it and add the deco strip to make the paneling below the cabinet door. Place it down enough that when you push your dryer against it, you won't see the wall.
Set the side unit on the full shelf unit's opposite end, though close enough to fit a shelf at the top. Add the other two shelves inside, creating a panel
at the cabinet's base.
Use two more side units and the remaining shelves from the full shelf unit to create another shelf unit that goes over the sink. If required, cut the shelves so they fit better.
