Hide Your Unsightly Basement Support Pole With This DIY Wood Project
By AMANDA FINN
If unsightly metal support beams in your basement look too bland or hideous for your aesthetic taste, consider a chic upgrade by hiding them with 2-by-4 wood columns.
To start, take each 2-by-4 section and heavily line the center of one side with a strong adhesive, like Loctite PL-375. Then, attach it firmly to the support beam with clamps.
Wait a full 48 hours for the adhesive to dry, then remove the clamps. Seal the edges where each of the four 2-by-4s meet, sand the wood, and paint or stain it as you would like.
