In a departure from traditional living room setups, Hilary Farr, co-host of the popular HGTV show "Love It or List It," recommends replacing the coffee table with an ottoman.
Farr likes the ottoman's multifunctionality, as it can serve not only as a table but also as a footrest, extra seating, and storage. Plus, it can be used in any room of the home.
The esteemed interior designer favors ottomans with upholstered tops that can introduce color or pattern to a space and those with metal or warm-hued wood for the legs or base.
