Hilary Farr Says This Outdoor Feature May Increase Your Home's Value

Things like renovating kitchens or updating bathrooms have a high return on investment, but according to HGTV’s Hilary Farr, building a deck could also increase your home's value.
In Season 12, Episode 3 of "Love It or List It," Farr built a second-floor deck as part of upgrades worth $85,000. The home’s value increased from $265,000 to $370,000.
The homeowners wanted the deck so they could host parties on it. It's large enough to have multiple gathering stations and can be accessed from the guest bedroom and backyard.
Decks and verandas increase home value because they not only add extra space to the house but also allow a family to enjoy the outdoors, which can bring a lot of happiness.
