Hilary Farr's Bold Front Door Color Choice Was Worth The Risk
By MARCO ROSSI
Although HGTV’s Hilary Farr is known for her neutral color schemes, she does like to dabble in bold accent colors — like when she chose a teal door to modernize a gray house.
In Season 12, Episode 13 of “Love It or List It,” Farr was confronted with a disjointed house featuring yellow and white siding, red brick, black shutters, and a black front door.
To make it look more cohesive, she opted to use a blueish-gray color named “Cityscape” for the front space. Then, she added a teal front door to really make the undertones pop.
Farr favors blue when it comes to front doors, claiming it is safe while still standing out. Plus, blue doors (especially slate) have been proven to increase a home's resale value.
