Home Features That Are
Out Of Style,
According To
HGTV's Property Brothers
By ALEXANDRIA TAYLOR
In a recent episode of their show, titled "The Next Multigeneration," Drew and Jonathan Scott, hosts of HGTV's "Property Brothers: Forever Home," tackle a home that is straight from the '80s. As they work to create an updated space, they pinpoint some of the common features that make a home feel dated.
Now outdated, in the 80s and 90s, mirrored walls were a staple because they added depth to a room by reflecting natural and artificial light. However, according to Jonathan, "fully mirrored walls came and went," and recommends using standard options on the wall instead.
Sunken living rooms were a major trend of the '70s, which featured a recessed floor that was lower than the rest of the home. "It was such a hot trend for quite a long time, and then people realized everyone falls on their face," Drew pointed out, and recommended instead to create zones tailored to specific needs.
