Always check the weather forecast before starting outdoor projects. Remember, lightning can strike up to 25 miles away from the storm, making conditions unsafe before rain begins.
The National Weather Service recommends waiting at least 30 minutes after a storm has passed before going back outside or resuming the use of electrical tools that were plugged in.
