How A Pool Noodle Can Upgrade Your IKEA Kallax Storage
By RACHEL ANN MELEGRITO
While vinyl collectors love the IKEA Kallax’s storage capacity, they find that records placed in its cubes tend to slide backward. Luckily, this can be solved using a pool noodle.
Simply use a sharp knife to cut your pool noodle to fit snugly against the sides of the cube, then press it into the back of the storage unit to create a cheap storage backer.
This hack protects your vinyl records from striking the unit’s hard backing or the wall it is against and keeps them in a uniform line that ups the aesthetics of the display.
If your Kallax doesn’t have a back, you can use tension rods or double-sided foam tape to keep the pool noodle in place. You should be able to create four backers from one noodle.
