How An Old Wire Hanger Can Be A Helpful Tool For Storing Caulk
By CHRISTY RAE AMMONS
This simple DIY stopper made from a wire hanger will keep your caulk from spilling out of the tube or hardening from exposure to air between projects.
To make a caulk tube plug, cut a 3- to 4-inch piece of wire from a hanger with wire cutters. If using pliers, hold and bend the hanger back and forth until a piece breaks off.
Twist or bend one end of the cut piece of wire into a small circle or hook shape and insert the opposite end into the opening of the tube.
The curl will function as a handle to help pull out the wire when you need to remove it, while the other end will fit tight enough to keep your caulk fresh for next time.
